In the “Paper menagerie” and “Call it Sleep” what’s in common is the characters. For example Zan’s mothers is very caring and loving towards him, the same as David’s mothers she treats him very well and does what’s best for him. Both of the mothers have a connection with their child either because of the language they speak. They only want to protect their kid in any way and talking to their child by either voice or letter helps us understand how much they love their own children. Zan and David are kinda alike, they both don’t have really close friends or family members except their mom’s, just that David had to go through a lot because he went to a whole different country without knowing anything, and his dad didn’t love him so much you could tell the way they barely spent time together. On the other hand Zan spent more time with his mom and she made many different animal papers for him. At the end she died due to cancer but in the animal papers it had a letter inside for him to read expressing herself and her story to him. They both had to go through a lot that’s for sure but had different stories to express to us. Both stories were very interesting in their own way and both lead to a good plot in the story.
